The High Altitude

At 8,848m above sea level, India houses most of the top ten peaks in the Himalayan region. You cannot get any higher on land than this...
India has three significant mountainous regions: Ladakh, the largest district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir; the lesser known area of Kumaon in Uttarakhand, and the former Buddhist kingdom of Sikkim in the shadow of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak. The Himalayas cover a vast area but in general the best months to visit are late October until early May, depending on the exact location and altitude of the trek. An exception is Ladakh, where tourist facilities are only open between May and September.

Snowfall – The No.1 Reason

The winter snowfall with the white fluff of frozen freshness is at once mesmerising and magical. Whether you step on it to play, to sled or just build snowman’s and snow angels, the sensation of fresh snow is vivid and sure to stay with you for a lifetime.

Winter Activities

The Himalayan hill stations offer an array of activities relevant and region specific that provides a distinct experience. The rugged terrains lend themselves to adventure activities like trekking, motor biking, cycling and skiing. One can explore a less rigorous option of ice skating to enjoy the serene and fascinating snowscapes.

Enjoy more than the View

The panoramic view of Himalayan Mountain is a perfect backdrop to enjoy the winter chills at high altitude. Clean crisp air and a hot cup of tea is a refreshing combination none can deny. Grilling sweet potatoes and mushrooms, sitting near burning woods can be one of the most pleasurable things to do when the weather is biting cold.
